Through the Viewfinder, 2016

In 2016, I shot a bikini feature for UNO Magazine Guam. It was a full-day assignment — styled, directed, and lit to someone else’s spec. But I brought along my Nikon F5 with Delta 400 loaded, just for me.

That shoot wasn’t supposed to be about intimacy or nuance — but that’s what I caught in between. Quiet moments between setups. Hair resets. Glances just outside the leading lights.

The image here was one of them—a blink of calm in a storm of direction.

The primary camera I was using is reflected in the mirror, but the photo wasn’t taken with that one. It was the F5 — the film camera that never asked for attention, only for honesty.

It’s funny how the photos I didn’t shoot “on purpose” ended up staying with me the longest.
