Rhea-joi: Shy No More

Rhea-joi: Shy No More

I found her through a casting call. She showed up a little shy, a little unsure, but there was something there, an eagerness to try, a willingness to trust the process. That was our first time shooting together.

By the second time, she had found her footing. We headed out to Adelup Beach on a February afternoon and let the light and the location do what they do. The mangroves, the sand, the open sky. She moved through it all with a quiet confidence that hadn’t been there before. That’s the thing about working with someone more than once. You get to see the shift.

This was our last session together, and I’m glad we got to end it here, with her at ease, in her element, and the camera just catching up.

Tech Notes: Fujifilm X-Pro2. Adelup Beach, Guam. February 2019. Natural light. B&W in post.
