Christine came through a group shoot organized by GASP — the Guam Arts Society of Photography — one of those days where photographers and models come together to create and learn from each other. She was there to try her hand at modeling for the first time and she took to it naturally.
We shot at Talofofo Beach, working around a small wooden lifeguard lookout — patched roof, weathered wood, the kind of structure that's been there forever and just belongs to the place. It gave us something to work with, something for her hands, her back, her eyes to relate to. She used it well.
The light that day was gorgeous. We stayed in open shade the entire session so nothing was hitting her too hard. No reflector needed — the rocks around us and the bounce off the white wash from the ocean did the job on their own. It was one of those days where the location just cooperates.
What struck me most was how genuine she was in front of the camera. That smile isn't something you direct. It just came.
